A High-Quality Creative Companion
Reliable, versatile, and designed for creators ready to step into full-frame photography, the Nikon Z5 II refines its predecessor with faster processing, enhanced subject detection AF, and better performance in low light. With a new color preset control, an ultra-bright viewfinder, and seamless sharing options, this camera empowers photographers and filmmakers alike to elevate their creative expression.
24.5MP FX Sensor & EXPEED 7 Image Processor
At its core, the Z5 II pairs a 24.5MP full-frame BSI CMOS sensor with Nikon’s powerful EXPEED 7 processor, delivering a balance of speed, image quality, and intelligence. This updated system improves overall responsiveness and introduces AI-driven autofocus enhancements for precise subject tracking. With a native ISO 100–64,000 range — expandable to ISO 50–204,800 — the Z5 II performs impressively across diverse lighting conditions, offering clean, low-noise images and natural color transitions throughout its sensitivity range.
Smarter Autofocus with Deep Learning
Inherited from the flagship Z9, the Z5 II’s AF system leverages deep-learning technology and advanced subject recognition for nine subject categories, including people, animals, vehicles, and aircraft. It also features the popular Bird Detection mode, ensuring reliable focus on even the fastest-moving subjects. In Auto-Area AF, the camera intelligently detects and tracks your subject across the frame for consistently sharp results.
Pre-Release Capture for the Perfect Moment
Thanks to the EXPEED 7 processor, the Pre-Release Capture feature ensures you never miss the decisive shot. When half-pressing the shutter, the Z5 II begins buffering images at up to 30 fps, capturing up to one second’s worth of frames before you fully press the shutter — perfect for unpredictable action or fleeting expressions.
UHD 4K Video Recording
More than just a stills camera, the Z5 II delivers strong video capabilities with UHD 4K recording up to 60 fps and Full HD up to 120 fps. Extended recording times of up to two hours, a video self-timer, and built-in electronic Vibration Reduction make it an excellent tool for vloggers and content creators.
Additional upgrades include:
-
10-bit internal recording with N-Log LUT support and four new RED LUTs for richer color grading.
-
Product Review mode for smooth on-camera demonstrations.
-
UAC/UAV compliance for live streaming directly via USB.
-
In-camera time-lapse creation with output directly in 4K UHD.
5-Axis Sensor-Shift Vibration Reduction
The Z5 II’s built-in 5-axis VR system offers up to five stops of image stabilization with any lens, and up to 7.5 stops when paired with VR-compatible Z lenses. For video, Electronic VR further reduces shake during handheld recording, ensuring stable and professional-looking footage.
Enhanced Color Control for Creators
Nikon introduces a new Picture Control button on top of the camera for direct access to 31 built-in color presets, usable even in Auto mode. These presets can be previewed live on the LCD, allowing creators to visualize tonal and color shifts in real time. Additionally, Creator Recipes—custom looks shared by Nikon photographers—can be downloaded from the Nikon Imaging Cloud and imported directly into the camera.
Body Design & Connectivity
The Z5 II combines refined ergonomics with intuitive functionality:
-
A 3.2" vari-angle touchscreen LCD with 2.1m-dot resolution, now twice as bright for improved visibility. The Touch FN feature allows direct focus-point selection via touch.
-
A bright 3.69m-dot EVF ensures comfortable eye-level shooting.
-
Dual UHS-II SD card slots for high-speed image and video storage.
-
Warm Display Colors mode for night shooting, shifting UI tones to red to preserve night vision.
-
Starlight View mode improves visibility in near-total darkness, perfect for astrophotography.
-
USB-C port for in-camera charging and power delivery, plus micro-HDMI for external recording.
-
Headphone/remote jack combo supports Nikon’s optional MC-DC3 Remote Release Cord.
-
SnapBridge connectivity with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and Wi-Fi for seamless file transfers and remote shooting via smart devices.
Powering it all is the EN-EL15c rechargeable battery, offering approximately 380 shots per charge, and supporting USB charging even during use.
