Combining broadcast-quality 10-bit video processing, ultra-fast Thunderbolt connectivity, and support for SD, HD, and Ultra HD workflows, UltraStudio Mini transforms any compatible Mac or Windows computer into a powerful professional video workstation.
Designed for everything from live streaming and broadcast graphics to color grading, replay systems, and real-time video processing, the UltraStudio Mini family provides flexible solutions to suit different production environments. Whether you need dedicated video capture, professional monitoring, or simultaneous capture and playback for live productions, UltraStudio Mini delivers exceptional reliability, low latency, and seamless integration with industry-standard creative applications.
Three Models for Different Professional Workflows
The UltraStudio Mini series consists of three specialized models designed to meet different production requirements:
- UltraStudio Mini Recorder 12G – A dedicated capture device featuring 12G-SDI and HDMI inputs for recording professional-quality video into your computer. Ideal for live streaming, content creation, video archiving, and ingesting footage from professional cameras or broadcast equipment.
- UltraStudio Mini Monitor 12G – A professional playback solution that outputs broadcast-quality video through 12G-SDI and HDMI, making it perfect for accurate color grading, editing, client monitoring, and live broadcast graphics with independent fill and key outputs.
- UltraStudio Mini Replay 12G – The most advanced model in the lineup, supporting simultaneous video capture and playback with dedicated fill, key, monitoring, and SDI input connections. It is specifically designed for live sports replay, news production, broadcast graphics, AI-assisted video processing, and real-time video workflows.
High-Speed Thunderbolt 4 Performance
Every UltraStudio Mini utilizes the latest Thunderbolt 4 technology, providing exceptional bandwidth over a single cable for video capture, playback, power delivery, and high-speed data transfer. The enormous bandwidth enables support for high resolutions, deep color precision, advanced frame buffer formats, and extremely low-latency performance required in professional broadcasting environments.
For the UltraStudio Mini Replay 12G, Thunderbolt’s bidirectional communication allows simultaneous video input and output, enabling computers to function as real-time graphics engines, replay systems, or AI-powered video processors during live productions.
Professional Broadcast Capture and Playback
UltraStudio Mini delivers true broadcast-quality performance with support for professional 10-bit video processing. Unlike consumer capture devices, it is designed to maintain exceptional image fidelity throughout the production pipeline, making it suitable for television broadcasting, commercial production, feature filmmaking, and live event coverage.
The system supports popular professional codecs including Apple ProRes, DNxHD, and uncompressed 10-bit video, allowing editors and colorists to preserve maximum image quality for color grading, visual effects, chroma keying, and mastering.
Simultaneous Capture and Playback
The UltraStudio Mini Replay 12G provides true bidirectional operation, allowing users to capture incoming video while simultaneously playing processed video back to external equipment in real time.
This capability enables advanced workflows such as:
- Live sports replay
- Broadcast graphics insertion
- Virtual graphics overlays
- AI-assisted video enhancement
- Live color grading
- Real-time compositing
- Video processing pipelines
- On-air graphics generation
With extremely low latency, the Replay model allows production teams to use a computer as a live processing engine without interrupting broadcast operations.
Built for DaVinci Resolve Replay and Live Production
UltraStudio Mini integrates seamlessly with DaVinci Resolve, unlocking advanced replay and live production features within the Cut page.
Editors can instantly review footage, perform rapid editing, trigger replays, output graphics with transparency, and automate live broadcast events using integrated fill and key outputs. Multi-source viewing allows synchronized clip browsing, while “On Air” controls simplify switching graphics directly to production switchers. Automatic stinger playback further streamlines professional broadcast transitions.
These capabilities make UltraStudio Mini Replay an ideal solution for:
- Live sports production
- News broadcasting
- Event coverage
- Studio productions
- Live television
- Corporate broadcasts
Independent Fill and Key Outputs
Professional broadcast graphics require separate fill and key signals for transparent overlays. UltraStudio Mini Monitor 12G and UltraStudio Mini Replay 12G feature dedicated dual 12G-SDI outputs that support independent fill and key channels.
The hardware automatically converts RGBA graphics into professional YUV fill and key outputs with full 10-bit precision, enabling smooth transparency, accurate edge blending, lower thirds, animated titles, scoreboards, logos, and broadcast stingers when connected to production switchers.
Supports Every Major Video Standard
UltraStudio Mini is built for worldwide broadcast compatibility, supporting virtually every common television format.
Supported formats include:
- SD (525i59.94 / 625i50)
- HD 720p
- HD 1080i
- HD 1080p up to 60 fps
- Ultra HD up to 2160p60
Multi-rate 12G-SDI technology ensures compatibility across modern production environments, while software updates allow future support for additional broadcast standards.
